Canola Oil, the mostly used oil in almost every home of USA is not just because of its inexpensiveness and milder taste but also has been claimed to be healthier to our heart too. But it is time for you all who are using Canola, as their all time cooking oil must know the actual truth in details.
A recent report put forward by Maret Traber of the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University says that Canola oil is richly containing Alpha-tocopherol, an antioxidant that might lead to cardiovascular diseases and other chronic health conditions, if found in high concentration. Being one among eight antioxidants in vitamin E, the Alpha-tocopherol prevents the fats that are in the bad low-density lipoprotein cholesterol from oxidizing and in turn in formation of free radicals. This is how this antioxidant works and affects our heart and responsible for other disorders too.
However, using just a few drops of Canola Oil will definitely not lead you to such diseases as we generally have a low concentration level of alpha-tocopherol, especially among women. But just as we know that prevention is always better than cure, it would be a wise decision to limit the use of Canola oil from now onwards. You can instead use a spray of it just for baking purposes or only for sautéing.
