Bring sprouts, ? cup water and salt to boil in 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Lower heat, cover and simmer, shaking pan once or twice, until knife tip inserted into brussels sprout center meets no resistance, 8-10 minutes. Drain well and serve or continue with another recipe. Variation for Brussels Sprouts Braised in Cream Follow recipe for Basic Braised Brussels Sprouts. substituting 1 cup whipping cream for ? cup water. Increase cooking time to 10-12 minutes.
